נושאים אלו יושפעו בעתיד גם משינויי אקלים וזמינות משאבים. כמו כן, קיים קשר ישיר בין נושאי דמוגרפיה סביבה, חברה וחוסן.
בתחום זה נחקור ונלמד תהליכים ומגמות בישראל ובעולם ואיך ניתן לשלבם בקבלת החלטות.
פרופ' יצחק ששון הוא חבר הסגל הבכיר בחוג לסוציולוגיה ואנתרופולוגיה, ראש המעבדה לדמוגרפיה במכון ע"ש בוריס מינץ וחבר במכון הרצג לחקר הזקנה באוניברסיטת תל אביב. תחומי התמחותו כוללים אי שוויון בבריאות, דמוגרפיה וביג דאטה במדעי החברה. מחקריו פורסמו בכתבי עת מובילים כגון Science, JAMA, Demography, ו-Social Science & Medicine. לפני שהצטרף לאוניברסיטת תל אביב שימש עמית מחקר ב-London School of Economics וסיים את לימודי הדוקטורט באוניברסיטת טקסס באוסטין.
Changes in population composition, migration and refugees are key issues in many countries. These issues will be affected in the future also from climate change and the availability of resources. In addition, there is a direct connection between demographics, environment, and society and resilience. In this field, we will research and study processes and trends in Israel and around the world, and how they can be integrated into decision making.
Prof. Isaac Sasson is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Tel Aviv University, Head of the BMI Demography Lab, and core faculty member at the Herczeg Institute on Aging. He received my PhD from the University of Texas at Austin in 2014 and was a postdoctoral fellow at the London School of Economics, prior to joining Tel Aviv University in 2016. As a sociologist and demographer specializing in population health, he studied the social determinants of longevity and inequality in human life spans. His research appeared in leading scientific journals including Science, JAMA, and Demography.
